The Art in Motion Project

Since early June 2011, Claire's painting "Breath of Life" has been rolling in downtown Chattanooga, TN. This is part of the Art in Motion Project, sponsored by River City Company, Carta and Public Art Chattanooga. Her artwork was selected in a contest.

The original silk art was reproduced digitally and printed on large vinyl panels by National Print Group. The panels were then applied on the bus shuttle. They will stay on until June 2013. Read about the bus wrapping process in this nooga.com article (the article photos show Claire's shuttle design).

Two other articles were written about this public art project: in the Chattanooga Times Free Press and in the Chattanooga Pulse (page 7).

It was very exciting to be part of the team that worked on these public shuttles. It's wonderful how Chattanooga sponsors dedicate so much to the arts. The "Breath of Life" bus artist statement reads as follows:

"Our natural world is in constant motion. Trees are fundamental characters, breathing, standing and flexible symbols. They're a clear sign of invisible change."

The two dimentional silk was turned into a lantern that now belongs to a private party.

For those who live near Chattanooga, this free shuttle runs between the Aquarium and the ChooChoo. Feel free to take a ride! The icing on the cake... the bus is electric!
